The man was charged Monday in the criminal cases of a man charged with selling Viagra while under the influence of drugs with intent to supply, the Toronto Superior Court has heard.
The man will be sentenced on a $1.6 million fine and $250,000 fine, while the charge against the man was dismissed last month.
“It’s clear from the evidence at trial that the defendant had a legitimate prescription and the drugs that he purchased did not actually increase the risk of adverse events,” court heard.
“The defendant, who has a history of drug use problems, has never used drugs and has not had the opportunity to seek assistance from a doctor. He has not been diagnosed with erectile dysfunction. This case is a reminder that even though men who abuse Viagra and other drugs are unlikely to get treatment for erectile dysfunction, they are also unlikely to get treatment for the underlying conditions that cause erectile dysfunction.”
The judge also ordered a sentencing hearing in the cases on June 5, 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and today will begin sentencing on June 5.
